Brooke’s First Vlog! (11/18/2008)

Filed under: News — Kamille @ 10:11 am

So Brooke was awesome enough to put up a Vlog for us:

Alrighty, here is a little blip from the big apple… this is technically my first Vlog, kinda nerdy… forgive me, it’s a little outdated, I was in New York well over a week ago and I’m finally putting it up, BUT better late than never right?! Enjoy…

Raindrops keep fallin’ on my head…

Tell her how cute/amazing/wonderful she is over on her MySpace, HERE or HERE :)

Brooke blogs… again!

Filed under: News — Kamille @ 10:12 am

Brooke blogs for the second time this week, and this time her blog gets a little deeper and more introspective.

Little snippet from the blog:

I have not yet gone back to watch “the show”… I mean I have watched bits and pieces, but that’s about it. Why? because I for one, am my BIGGEST critic and don’t find much enjoyment in watching myself or hearing my voice. For example, have you ever heard your own voice back on the answering machine… and thought “That’s me? No way, I do NOT sound like that” and then your friend says “yeah you do, you totally do” and then all the sudden your freaked out… it’s kinda like that times a million for me, sheer torture (maybe you have not had this answering machine experience, in that case never mind) does this make sense? Maybe not… but I suppose I felt that if I went back and watched it and seen some of my “human” moments, or heard some of the dumb things I said, or the few bad notes I hit and I would be so hard on myself, feel foolish and then begin to hold back, sensor or change myself. Now on the contrary, While many would argue that going back and “watching the tape” is  valuable and vital for learning and getting better…like in sports for example (dave would be so proud of me right now for making a sports reference, he is obsessed) they go back and watch the tape of the game to study their mistakes, and see what worked and allow it to help them know how to improve their next game. Yes, I can definitely see how this could be helpful… maybe someday I will use this strategy or tactic. But for now I leave it in the past and work off my “instincts”.  And music is entirely about instinct to me, or feeling… as  you probably could tell, I don’t pay much attention to technicalities… maybe I should… but I don’t.

It’s very long but definitely worth the read! Read her full blog HERE, and don’t forget to leave a comment. If for some reason MySpace won’t work for you, you can read it HERE instead.

Brooke Blogs! – 11/10/2008

Brooke posted a new blog on MySpace, you can read it HERE and don’t forget to leave comments for her!

Little snippet:

So a few weeks back I found myself in Nashville, Tennesee for the first time, a place that is also referred to as “Music City” and now I know why! I don’t know if many of you have been to Nashville, maybe there are some of you lucky folks live there, all I have to say is that it is both charming and beautiful. I drove around all week in a little PT cruiser that I rented (btw, this was the first time I personally rented a car…woohoo, what a significant milestone) and a confusing GPS system, and got lost and fell in love with this place, covered in trees, all you can see is green, the air is different…pure, and if their was an ocean I wouldn’t think twice about relocating. And my reasoning for being in Nashville you might be wondering… was to WRITE MUSIC! Now hold up…I am sure you are thinking, wait a second, is Brooke going country? And the answer is, nope. As I said, Nashville is “music city” and yes, there is a whole lotta country going on in this town, there is just an over-all abundance of music makers hanging around! And there is nothing wrong with country music, I love it, it’s just not my focus at the moment. So I thought, why not go somewhere new and check it out. Well I checked it out, and I had an absolutely lovely time and came back with almost five songs written. I had the opportunity to do some co-writing, and I wasn’t sure what to expect in this writers town, cause usually my approach is to sit down at the piano or guitar and try to start and finish something. Of course I was a little nervous, or anxious, which there was no need, because everyone I wrote with was fantastic and enthusiastic, and we were able to craft some beautiful little tunes (that I wish I could share with you, but you will have to wait and just listen to “Let it be” a few more thousand times:). So while I spent the majority of the time hanging out on “music row” (literally rows of adorable little houses where music is made… studios, offices etc.) writing from sun up to sun down I tried to squeeze in a little bit of exploring, just to get a feel of the place, and eat some dang good food.

Read the full blog HERE if you can’t view MySpace for some reason. Her blog also came along with some cute pictures of her which we have also uploaded into the gallery.
